Instead of just obtaining metrics, our recent Diversity, Equity Inclusion and Belonging survey took a deep dive into understanding our people. We asked for insight into our people’s experiences, what’s working well – and where there are opportunities to make our work environment more inclusive and better.
We discovered some incredible facts about our people and have made already made changes to support the individual needs of our whānau to ensure we provide an inclusive, safe and supportive workplace environment.
50% of staff have immediate family overseas – Our new Working Away Initiative allows our people to extend their travel plans to spend more time with family while working remotely for up to four weeks.
86% of our people found our Flexible Work Policy provides greater work/life balance – We are breaking the mould of the traditional 9-5, and as a result, our people are happier, healthier, and more connected to loved ones, while being just as productive.
19% of our people are currently studying – We love to see our people grow their careers and follow their passions, so we provide diverse learning and development opportunities, including working with Te Wānanga o Aotearoa so people can obtain a Level 3 certificate in Tikanga. Investing now allows our people to thrive in the future.
We’re working hard to improve in these areas:
- 5% of our workforce identify with the Rainbow community. We’ve partnered with Rainbow Tick and are currently providing staff with Rainbow Education Sessions
- 16% of our people consider themselves neurodiverse. As our workforce diversifies, so will our working environment. We’re designing spaces to support different ways of thinking
- 33% of our people are religious or spiritual – our newest office includes a multifaith and meditation room, equipped with a place to perform wudu for Muslim staff
